Early this year, Wisconsin became the 50th state to introduce a Right-to-Repair bill, while capping nearly a decade of grassroots momentum that began with cracked phones and farm tractors. Forty-nine additional bills are active across 23 other states, while seven— California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York, and Oregon—have already passed laws that require manufacturers to share parts and manuals. All seven, however, carve out medical devices.
