Tracy MacNeal Of Materna Medical On Five Things We Must Do to Improve the US Healthcare System
When I was 15 years old in high school, a woman engineer came to my trigonometry class to talk about how she applied the concept of trig to her work — she was a civil engineer. This was my first time learning about what an engineer does, and I was inspired by her story and female leadership — it opened up my eyes and quickly made me realize that you can never overestimate the impact you might have on someone’s life. I’m sure she doesn’t remember me, but little does she know she jump-started the origin story of my career path, which ultimately led me to attend engineering school at The Cooper Union in NYC.
